CorrosionRADAR’s Monitoring Solution Selected to Support Dow’s Alberta Project
CorrosionRADAR’s data-led corrosion under insulation (CUI) monitoring solution has been selected to help protect critical insulated assets at Dow’s project in Fort...
Summary
The global multi-energy company, our customer, was experiencing difficulty and expense in maintaining their offshore platform piping.
Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) is a big problem in an offshore environment. CorrosionRADAR successfully installed corrosion and moisture sensors. The customer can now access data, on their CUI Risk Analytics dashboard, indicating the corrosivity and moisture levels under insulation.
Operational efficiencies have been improved, cost and risk has been reduced, the impact to the environment has decreased and we have empowered our customer to make informed decisions about their asset management.

Challenge
Our customer, a global multi-energy company, was experiencing difficulty and expense in maintaining their offshore platform piping. CUI is a big problem in an offshore environment, due to the presence of chlorides salts in the atmosphere – these will accelerate corrosive conditions.
The customer was needing to carry out repeated inspections and maintenance of CUI prone assets, costing high amounts of money and personnel time. CorrosionRADAR was asked to help by shifting the customer towards predictive maintenance, allowing for reduced inspection and maintenance costs.

Solution
Implementation
CorrosionRADAR installed corrosion and moisture sensors to our customer’s offshore platform piping. As this was a high risk pipe, the sensors were fitted under the insulation in a helical configuration, to ensure the high CUI risk areas were monitored. We then reapplied the FOAMGLAS insulation.

Outcome
Following the CorrosionRADAR system being successfully installed, our customer can now access data, on their CUI Risk Analytics dashboard, that is being continuously monitored to check the corrosivity and moisture levels under insulation. Indications of CUI will be detected early, allowing for a move towards predictive corrosion management.
Making guess work a thing of the past.Operational efficiencies have been improved, cost and risk has been reduced, the potential impact to the environment has decreased and we have empowered ourcustomer to make informed decisions about their asset management.
