A major onshore oil and gas facility selected CorrosionRADAR’s remote monitoring system to proactively manage corrosion under insulation (CUI) risks on a pipeline.
Continuous remote monitoring of corrosion and moisture had already improved maintenance and inspection decisions at the site.
The system was installed on a pipeline that had previously suffered insulation failure, water ingress, and significant CUI damage. The customer’s objective was to detect early signs of moisture, verify the performance of the new insulation, and lower the risk of unplanned downtime
Challenge
The customer recognised that without continuous monitoring, any recurrence of CUI could go undetected between inspections.
They also needed to confirm the long-term performance of the new insulation, something periodic checks alone could not guarantee.

Within a short period of operation, the monitoring system detected early signs of moisture detection
Implementation
- The system was deployed to deliver continuous corrosion and moisture
data, transmitted reliably over long distances via LoRa connectivity. - All sensor readings flow directly into the CR:CLARITY Dashboard, where
the integrity team can review alerts and analyse historical trends. - These data insights enable the customer to prioritise maintenance,
optimise inspection schedules, and make informed, evidence-based
asset management decisions.
Outcome
- Within a short period of operation, the monitoring system detected early signs of moisture ingress.
- This early warning allowed the customer to schedule a visual inspection before the issue escalated, avoiding further asset degradation and unnecessary costs.
- Beyond addressing immediate concerns, the system provides ongoing insulation quality assurance, confirming performance in unaffected areas, flagging potential weaknesses, and tracking emerging risks.
