CorrosionRADAR Expands CUI Sensor Portfolio with New CR:SR Solution

In an industry where corrosion, or decay, can silently threaten safety, efficiency, and sustainability, CorrosionRADAR is taking the uncertainty out of asset integrity by combining smart sensors with predictive analytics. Highlighting the global scale of the challenge, Ahmad O. Al-Khowaiter, Aramco EVP for Technology and Innovation, told the Middle East Corrosion Conference 2025 that “close to $1 trillion per year in savings can be realised just by applying AI and other corrosion control technologies.”
He noted that AI and advanced analytics allow the industry to shift from reactive approaches to proactive monitoring, with real-time insights preventing failures before they occur.
Al Khowaiter singled out partnerships like CorrosionRADAR as key enablers of this transformation, explaining that “their technology has already huge value through inspection cost reduction, improved uptime, and optimised turnaround planning.”
In conversation with Oil & Gas Middle East, CorrosionRADAR chief technology officer and co-founder Dr. Praful Sharma explains that the company’s technology, which focuses on corrosion under insulation (CUI), offers clarity in an area that has long been treated as a guessing game – and it’s one the operators can no longer afford to play.
CUI remains a persistent challenge for oil, gas, and petrochemical facilities, particularly in coastal environments and at sites handling cryogenic liquids, where fluctuating temperatures and trapped moisture can accelerate corrosion.
Sharma notes the company’s CUI Risk Monitoring solution “predicts the onset of CUI using permanently installed sensors with advanced analytics to monitor industrial assets for corrosion under insulation continuously.”
Traditional methods depend on periodic manual inspection, often requiring insulation removal, scaffolding, or shutdowns.
In contrast, CorrosionRADAR: LR provides continuous visibility without interrupting operations.
“This shift from periodic inspections to fully autonomous monitoring and predictions significantly improves coverage and accuracy while reducing CUI management costs by several million dollars”
